Another summer month come and gone, gamers delight as we are one month closer to the mega game month (that's november for all you nubs). August is pretty dry but get ready because in the next couple of months we got some AAA titles coming.

Gamefly Discs:
Assassin Creed
Army of Two
Conan ( I didn't get BF joe, they sent me the 4th game on my queue, apparently its in high demand)

Currently Playing:
Army of Two - "saaaalem salem salem" Pulled an all nighter last week and beat this badboy. Now its all about boosting the achievements. Great game, mindless co-op shooter fun!
Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution - 'nuff said
GTA and Assassins Creed End Game (I WILL finish; I promise! damn civ rev.)

August
Madden 09 - release date 8/12/08
I'll be renting this, Joe lets see if Madden says that the Giants can do it again this year. I think NOT!

Too Human - release date 8/14/08
Dungeon crawler RPG that looks pretty and has a decent storyline. Download the demo if you're curious. Not sure how I feel about it, gameplay was decent but might get a tad boring. Its live enabled so you can pair up with a buddy and I could see having some fun with that, but I don't think it'll have any staying power on my shelf.

Mercenaries 2: World In Flames - release date 8/31/08
Anything that is co-op enabled is bound to make my list, especially one where you can destroy and set pretty much everything on fire. Think Crackdown or GTA in terms of the massive world you can explore and then add in Civ Rev Nukes......yes NUkes......you can nuke a city block. Count me in, and count my buddies in too because what fun is it too nuke a city block without someone to high five.

Tales of Vesperia - release date 8/21/08
For you RPG fans out there, I'm always wary of "non-Square" storybased rpgs but this one looks decent; its almost as if you are playing an anime movie. Its plays kinda like Kingdom Hearts were you only control the main character as you freely roam the battlefield racking up combos. Plus your friends can hop in a take control over the other characters as you play (i doubt its supported over live though). This game may see some play from me but I've got a bunch of others to get through first (IE: Lost Odyssey) and thats if FF13 doesn't come out by the time I get to it.

Wow, August is looking fairly "meh." I guess that shouldn't be a surprise.

Mercenaries 2 vs. Saints Row 2. Discuss.

One word: Hooptie.

Saints Row is prolly more suitably compared to GTA but i'll take the bait.

This will be easy. Merc 2 wins. Saints Row doesn't have co-op over live.

I take back my vote. I stand corrected. Saints Row 2 is now clearly the winner, regardless of co-op.

So are you still planning on getting Soul Caliber IV? I can't convince myself to get excited about it, even though I would be able to smash you in the face with my light saber online. This might be a pre-fantasy draft in person game for me at your house.

By the way, I am wondering if the fantasy draft will be an all afternoon into the night mega event with much 360 gaming to be had?

So, to piggyback off of Bush's post, as if this were the xbox360fanboy.com podcast, I am playing Orange Box (just beat Half Life 2, episode 1 and 2 will be sprinkled in between.....) and MASS EFFECT. Mass effect started slow for me, but now that I am used to the mechanics of it and the story is taking shape, I can see this becoming my free time destroyer. Also, still rocking the Rock Band with the old lady, because its all she can play.

I have the list of games I am targeting for the balance of the year all set -

Madden 09, Star Wars Force, Rock Band 2, Lego Batman, Ghostbusters, Guitar Hero World Tour (provided I do not need to buy their hardware to play it) Call of duty World at War and Gears of War 2.

its likely I will not be able to afford RB2 AND GHWT (more like my wife will not allow me to afford it) so that list may go down by one. So, I am taking all donations for the Joe Viv vs XBOX 360 fund. Help out a good cause.

I had the exact same thought Joe! You guys better pick your dudes quick cause I wanna game!

In terms of Soul Calibur, I've been flip flopping back and forth with whether or not to get it. There are just to many blockbusters I gotta get to to spend another 60 bucks on a fighter. But I think I'll be getting it anyway, with the help of a bunch of tradeins that i don't really play anymore (Crackdown, Skate., PES 2008 maybe)

I hear that. I am about to trade in my PS2 and Call of Duty 3 to get some cred towards purchase of my list.

Give me some Mass Effect pointers without giving away any spoilers, eh?

Back at the Citadel the medic lady will buy things from you at a higher rate than you can sell them to the other venders. SO if you're patient enough, you can get the credit achievement just by buying and selling between the medic lady and the other vendors. Your buyback list is only 20 long so make sure you don't sell more than that otherwise you lose items.

You can then go buy all the spectre gear and play through the entire game with l33t gear.

You can follow this guide: Careful clicking anywhere else around that site though; Spoilers abound.

August sounds like it's going to be defined by the quality of its XBLA titles:

Castle Crashers, Braid, and Bionic Commando:Rearmed all look pretty sweet.

traded my ps2, a few old ps2 games and COD 3 for 360 - $80. They even had to take my PS2 back as "broken" because I broke the seal. So, it looks like at least one of my games list will be taken care of. I picked up Marvel / Forza 2 because a guy I work with raved about it - to me, it seems like Gauntlet with Marvel hereoes. But in a good way. I dig it.

Yes 4 player co-op.

I've been planning on getting Left4Dead for a long time. Undoubtably I will get it on the xbox. Dat be 3 consistant players - zodd, you, and me; as i'm sure vincent and shaw will get it on the pc. Between our list I'm sure we can pick up a forth here or there; or just suffer with the 4th as AI.

Haaaambargaarz . . . . brraaaaaaaaaiiiiinzzzz.
